What content can you code in MAGICapp?
You can add codes from code systems to tag your content. We support this multiple places in the app:
- The PICOs
- You can add codes for the Population, the interventions, comparators and Outcome
- The Recommendations
- You can add codes for the Target population inclusions, and exclusions
- You can add codes for the Recommended intervention (inclusions and exclusions)
- You can add a list of EHR-elements that is thought to be useful for clinicians to see alongside the recommendation
- The Guidelines
- (Upcoming) You can code your guideline with a topic code (will most likely be ICD-11 top level codes)
Why code and what can these codes do?
- If you code your content consistently, you can create topic maps of your content (on guideline, Recommendation and PICO level)
- You can create searches or filters into your content using the codes ("Give me all the recommendations that have a target population that includes Malaria")
- You can give EHR systems the ability to show useful information next to a recommendation
- "This recommendation mentions "Aspirin", could you like to write a prescription?"
- "This recommendation mentions the laboratory test of Hemoglobin as being useful, here is the latest lab results for Hemoglobin values for your patient"
What code systems have we implemented?
We can support any ontology/terminology/Code system as long as it is available to us to search in.
For Recommendation and PICO codes: We are currently using a Bioportal plug-in that allows us to search all the content of Bioportal - the world's most comprehensive repository of biomedical ontologies.
We have chosen to implement the international version of a couple of well known and high volume used ontologies. However, we know that different countries sometimes use their own extention of these, so if your organization has the needs for a terminology to be added, please contact us
Currently we have implemented:
- ICD-10
- ICPC (incl the Danish version)
- SNOMED-CT
- ATC
- MeSH
We have plans to include:
- ICD-11 (directly from the WHO API)
For Recommendation EHR elements:
We have started with a set list of elements, as we wanted to make it easy for authors to start to use this feature. There are many thousand potential data elements you could have wanted to see from various EHR systems, but we think this starter-set will cover most the basic need. If there are elements you do not see and that you would want in there, let us know.
All elements are tagged with codes from multiple ontologies/terminologies:
- Lab tests: LOINC and SNOMED CT
- Observations: LOINC and SNOMED CT
- Medications: ATC, RxNorm and SNOMED CT
- Diagnose-groups: ICD-10 (soon ICD-11), MeSH and SNOMED CT
