How do I attach study data to my outcome?

You can attach systematic reviews/ meta-analysis, primary study data, files (like forest plots) and other references to your outcome. There are many ways you can do this depending on what kind of data you have available.

1. Adding Systematic reviews/meta-analysis with primary studies when you have a file with data.
2. Adding a Systematic review reference and primary studies without having a file with data.
3. Adding only primary studies (same steps as in 2)

1. Adding Systematic reviews/meta-analysis with primary studies when you have a file with data.

Currently, this only works with Systematic reviews/meta-analysis you have made with the Cochrane software RevMan or if you have access to published systematic reviews from Cochrane, where you can download the statistical file. See how here:  http://help.magicapp.org/knowledgebase/articles/493087-adding-a-revman5-file-as-a-reference

We are working with others, like Covidence and Eppi-reviewer, to also make it possible to get files or automatically pulled data from your projects or Systematic reviews/meta-analysis on their platforms.

Step 1: Make the Systematic reviews/meta-analysis file into a reference:

a: go to references tab
b: click add references
c: click Upload using a revman5 file

Step 2: The file with all it's data is uploaded, and the file itself is added to the reference.

It is not always possible to extract all data from the file, like year and authors, but this can be added manually by clicking the little edit pen on the reference.

Step 3: Go to the tab Evidence, open up your PICO, and go to the Outcome you want to attach your data.

In that Outcome, you open up the cell where you input estimates, and click 'Add and show study details' to expose the place where you can add systematic reviews/ meta-analysis, files and data.

Step 4: Add your wanted comparison and outcome and use the data to autopopulate the estimates and primary studies table.

a: Click the Add systematic reviews/ meta-analysis -> Choose the reference you have added
b: Choose the comparison you want to pull data from
c: Choose the outcome you want to add results and study data from
d: Click 'Add included studies'  to add the study details found in the meta-analysis for the chosen outcome
e: Click 'Auto-fill' besides the estimates if you want to use the pulled data for your estimates and number of studies and participants.

2. Adding a Systematic review reference and primary studies without having a file with data.

Step 1 - 3 is the same as above, only that you add a reference not by uploading a Revman file, but by importing from PubMed, a RIS file or manually.
